Top tips to get your garden summer ready

Summer is close by, time to make sure you get the best out of your garden. Check out our top tips to help you get your garden ready for the summer.

Patio

Make your patio look brand new. Using a jet wash will bring all the dirt out of the patio, make sure to be careful so you don’t damage the surfaces, also avoid it if there are things like loose mortar. They are many proprietary cleaners available you can choose from, but you will need to follow the instructions carefully.

Lighting

Why not make the most of the summer evenings being long? Add lights to your garden, preferably solar lights because they are efficient and there is always a wide selection at garden centres and supermarkets. Night time is when you should use oil lamps, and outdoor candles this will help repel bugs and add atmosphere.

Lawn

Keeping your lawn looking good and health is a must in the summer months, but it can be challenging. Use a feed to slowly restore your lawn, also up showers will boost your garden in time for the summer. Make sure you follow the instructions to the product you have chosen very carefully, so you don’t damage your lawn. Use a purpose made spreader with granular feeds this ensures the correct coverage, you’ll need to water the lawn if there is no rainfall. If the summer dries out your lawn, it will recover once the rain returns.

Add Colour

By adding bright coloured flowers into your garden will help put a smile on your face after not seeing much flowers over the winter. It will look great if you brighten up your paved areas or walls by using planted up containers. As well as using flowers to brighten up your garden why not get some ornaments to throw a bit of colour in.

Finally, Relax

When your garden is ready for the summer, make sure you can sit down and enjoy your garden, by having some comfortable and good-looking garden furniture. Even if you don’t want to purchase new furniture, you can always do up your old furniture by cleaning it up then adding some paint.
